The whole exhibition is based around a specific piece of artwork by Picasso, entitled La Baignade (On the Beach) which was painted in 1937. The exhibition will feature ten drawings, three paintings and one sculpture inspired by the abstract seaside landscapes between the months of February to December in 1937. The majority of his motifs can be seen in his work throughout the depictions of beaches and bathers which explains the new formal and iconographic departure. His outdoor theme, the beach, is approached with both of the traditional and modern manner and in term of figures and structural composition, his work was inspired from numerous artists such as Giorgione, Titian, Ingres, Pulvis de Chavannes.

Picasso’s novelty was more about the characteristic of the Spanish genius than the function of his subject matter. With the importance of uniting the individual experience with tradition, his creation was modern and yet utterly revolutionary.
