adidas Originals has launched its latest collaboration with White Mountaineering, the contemporary Japanese brand. After the success of their pervious Spring/Summer 2017 collaboration, the two super brands are teaming up again on a new range for the colder season ahead. The launch of the 2017 winter collection has been highly anticipated especially after the street-ready designs have been teased on Instagram, adding to the hysteria of this collaborative collection.
Founded in 2006 by designer Yosuke Aizawa, White Mountaineering is merging the line between street wear and contemporary designer. The brands concept is simple ‘The field in which we wear clothes is all outdoors’ as it aims to combine design, utility and technology by using imagination to fuse these elements together. Although still quite new on the scene it has a strong street wear enthusiast based audience due to it’s more recent collaborations with iconic sportswear brands.
The collection produced is once again technical sportswear, keeping to a neutral earth based pallet. Adidas’s aesthetic returns in the form of their iconic jersey jacket silhouettes and three stripe detailing which features on a large majority of the garments. The key pieces of the collection are the pair of black and white NMD Trails and the matching monochrome windbreaker which sit along side a range of street wear staples including; technical track pants, graphic tees, hats and a long sleeved button down sweat.
All in all, what can be seen in the line up are the usual sportswear classics, the range consists of sixteen pieces, most of them apparel and are all offered in the understated pallet of black, white and olive. Yosuke Aizawa has injected his inimitable aesthetic into the collaboration with his use of unorthodox materials boosting the technical features of the garments.
In addition to the apparel items, footwear is a large part of the collection too. Adidas’s iconic Stan Smith sneaker is given a premium update with BOOST tooling. The trainer comes in a choice of a leather or suede upper and features a gum sole while still keeping the classic rounded silhouette. They are available in olive green, tennis white and classic black and all feature a three-way strap fastening. There are also two new NMD Trail and NMD R2 colourways available featuring navy and brown.
When will the collaboration be available to buy?
The collaboration will be available from adidas Originals Flagship stores and online this Saturday, July 15th.
