Secret Garden Party

Our trend round-up from the last ever Secret Garden Party festival

Secret Garden Party has established itself as the biggest party on the UK festival scene. A ‘world apart from reality’, the festival has continued to push boundaries since its launch in 2004 by bringing an otherworldly experience to the fields of Abbots Ripton in Cambridgeshire. Along with its annual fancy dress theme, Secret Garden enhances the boutique festival experience through outrageous staged dance offs and its famous crowd paint fight. After 13 years, and numerous awards under their belt, August 2017 saw Gardeners wave goodbye to one of the greatest UK festivals with a party to end all parties.

Trendstop’s festival street style spotters attended the last ever Secret Garden Party to bring our blog readers an exclusive trend round-up.

Trend Insights

The Embellished Baker Boy

A trend highlighted in our Glastonbury Styling Report, The Embellished Baker Boy sees a party ready twist on the traditional baker boy hat. High crowns are exaggerated through heavy sequin and stick-on gem embellishments, creating a truly statement look to complete any outfit. Customisation is key to this trend, with wearers adding finishing touches such as feather boa placements and kitsch tiara crowns for an individualistic twist on the classic silhouette.

The Oversized Sequin

As Secret Garden Party is renown for its party atmosphere, it’s only natural that The Oversized Sequin trend features as one of our stand-outs from the festival. Complementing our Sparkling Stars styling direction, large scale plastic sequins decorate flowing kimonos cover-ups and nineties inspired cami dresses. Dense embellishment applications enhance these simplistic silhouettes with a mythical sheen, a look completed by heavy face glitter and crystal gem contouring.

Printed Lycra Catsuits

Slip into a Printed Lycra Catsuit for a more daring festival look this season. Stretchy lycra is sewn into figure hugging jumpsuits, providing a perfect base for quirky graphic patterns and rainbow stripe repeats. Accessorising is an essential way to break up the garment, styling embellished bumbags with attention grabbing headwear to enhance the off-beat aesthetic.

Pastel Perfect Furs

Animal patterns step aside as Pastel Perfect Furs adorn casual jackets at Secret Garden Party. Validated tones of sweetened Bubblegum Pink and Salmon Blush are injected in shaggy faux furs, providing a cosy cover-up option for any styling combination. Filled with girl power attitude, these jackets work well with sequined underlayers and embellished beauty looks.
