Exclusive trend insights from the Pitti Immagine Fair

Fashion’s elite headed from the catwalks of London to the Firenze in Florence for Pitti Uomo 92. A key event in the Menswear calendar, Pitti Uomo provides a platform for the coming season’s clothing and accessory collections. J. W. Anderson and Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh were the leading special guests for the 92 edition, introducing streetwear and a touch of the avant-garde.  Alongside fashion’s biggest names, trend spotters also flock to the fair for its sartorial street style reputation.

Traditionally known for its attention to formalwear and suiting, the Spring/Summer 2018 edition welcomed a more street infused aesthetic. Take the Hunting World show as a perfect example; the brand hired White Mountaineering designer Yosuke Aizawa for their first runway collection which premiered at Pitti. Hugo Boss chose to showcase their casual line over their formal collections, a choice which further cements the importance of casualwear in today’s market.

Trendstop’s Menswear Team attended the fair in Florence to bring you exclusive trend insights from Pitti Uomo.

The sophistication of smart-casual is applied to a range of sports inspired apparel for Refined City Sports. Validating a key shade from our Spring/Summer 2018 Colour Forecast, Blanched Khaki provides a perfect neutral base for pared back outerwear items. Darkest depths of Navy formalise trainers and docker hats, presenting a contemporary alternative to black.

Athletic primary shades breathe new life into staple summer silhouettes. These optimistic colours compliment a range of varsity graphics, from bold collegiate lettering to naïvely drawn sports scenes. Introduce this vibrant palette into your wardrobe with a lightweight anorak jacket which oozes fresh, sporting appeal.

Street Cargo

Street Cargo sees utility garments translated for the streetwear market through simplified shapes and details. Dense weighted cottons enhance the structure of these minimal silhouettes, suggesting a softly starched finish to shirting and trousers. Sneaker x Hiker footwear follows through into Spring/Summer 2018 with a refined attention to texture in subtly contrasting panels.

The Wanderer

Validating our Spring/Summer 2018 Menswear Theme, The Wanderer seeks exotic lands for a culturally-rich aesthetic. The globe trotter look is achieved through texturally rustic fabrics, such as hemp and linen blends. Loosely tapered silhouettes are decorated with ethnic patterns, from tidy tonal stripes to statement tribal repeats.
