Last weekend Victoria Park, East London played host to Field Day festival, bringing with it some of the best electronic music acts including Nicolas Jaar, Flying Lotus and Nina Kravitz. As expected, the one day event was full of good music, food and dancing, with the highlight undoubtedly coming from headliners Aphex Twin’s and their set in Field Day’s brand new indoor stage ‘The Barn’
Street style also took centre stage with new and emerging trends such as kitsch sunglasses and heavy embellishment being a favorite among the attendees. Here at Trendstop we have defined four key festival trends for the up and coming season from Field day.
The Knitted Crop Top
Knitwear is transitioning in to summer wardrobes with a new cropped silhouette in bright rainbow shades. The bralette inspired lightweight knit takes on a more casual feel through halter neck styles, giving looks a classic summer festival feel. Style the knit with high waisted mom jeans or oversized culottes, exposing a hint of midriff for a hippy inspired look.
Minimalistic metal frames are bent into oversized heart shapes, providing a playful and feminine take on eyewear. Lenses are lightly tinted with hues of millennial pink whilst dainty frames give the style a real kitsch look. This confirms Trendstop’s ‘K-pop Kids’ theme for women Spring/Summer 2017 with the style creating a sugary sweet and cute aesthetic.
With a clear gothic theme, all-over sheer fabrics grab attention by layering over black intimates. This daring styling combination is paired with heavy duty boots and a deep red lip, creating an unusually dark look for festival season. Layering is key here, with the mono tone colour pallet being broken up through the use of opaque and translucent textures, patterned lace or simple sheer fabrics.
New Rave Bum Bag
The simple utility belt is a festival staple each season, but this year the iconic style has had a makeover. Pockets are outlined with heavy piping and metallic shades provide a disco inspired look. For a more casual look, choose pastel hues with the belt styled loosely around the hips.
