Key Trends for Pre-Fall 2016 Womenswear

Taking place between the main Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter collections, Pre-Fall is a transitional season where designers have the opportunity to maximize their profits with the launch of a smaller, more commercially-focused capsule range. This season also presents consumers with a first look at the kinds of styles that will influence the full fall season. With Pre-Fall 2016 now in full swing, the Trendstop team has analyzed a selection of inspiring new trends emerging in contemporary womenswear. Sourced from our daily Editor’s Picks catwalk coverage on the Trendstop.com site, these Pre-Fall trends reference directional collections by leading designer brands, including Chanel, Fendi and Erdem.

A mood of modern-classic elegance comes through for Pre-Fall 2016, as ladylike styles reveal a heritage-inspired undertone. Garments like oversized tweed overcoats and wide-leg pants paired with luxe satins and delicate sheers, inspiring a masc-femme look. Other interpretations see demure flowing dresses decorated with sophisticated floral prints.

Sensual Rustics

A play on texture informs new season womenswear, as rustic fabrics are refined with a feminine dimension. Across mélange knit and tonal patchworking, tactile surfaces form softened silhouettes, relaxed draping and elongated silhouettes, occasionally contrasted with sheers or velvets for added sophistication.

Subversive Sizes

Pre-Fall sees garments refreshed with standout proportions, blowing up separates and co-ords with oversized shapes. XXL tailoring makes a masculine-look statement, blurring the boundaries between formal and casual looks. Meanwhile, seasonal layering allows for directional stylings, as billowing outerwear is worn over longline dresses and chunky knits are bulked out with heavyweight sleeveless coats.
