Before the Marc by Marc Jacobs diffusion line officially merges with its parent brand Marc Jacobs, fans can expect to see the release of two final collections for Resort 2016 and Holiday 2015. This week, the MBMJ label have revealed that they will be partnering with the Disney company for the holiday merchandise range, which will also coincide with the upcoming live-action adaptation of Alice Through the Looking Glass (the highly-anticipated sequel to 2010’s Alice in Wonderland).
Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s tale, the I Am Not Like Other Girls collection will include clothing and accessories adorned with recognisable Alice iconography like oversized cartoon bows, heart-shaped keys and ‘snickering pansy flowers.’
Explaining that the aesthetic of the holiday collection is an indicator of what’s to come when the brands merge, CEO Sebastian Suhl describes how “There has been a shift already in the design. You can see how [the collection] definitely fits in with the general Marc Jacobs product more so than it had been in past seasons. There is more of the original spirit of Marc by Marc Jacobs.”
The range will be available from November 1, with products priced from $60 to $400. The Alice theme will also be a key part of the Marc by Marc Jacobs’ send-off holiday window displays, on show at select stores.
