H&M and French luxury brand Balmain are teaming up for an A/W 2015 collaboration collection which will hit stores worldwide on November 5. Oliver Rousteing, Balmain’s leading creative, is set to follow in the footsteps of a long line of high-profile designer collaborations with the Swedish retailer. Previously successful collections include collaborations with iconic designer brands such as Karl Lagerfeld, Lanvin, Versace and most recently Alexander Wang.
Well known for his “Balmain Army” and its strong presence in social media, Rousteing announced the collaboration last night at the Billboard Music Awards, where he walked the red carpet together with his friends and ‘It-models’ Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner. All three debuted looks from the upcoming collection, giving the world a little sneak peek of what is to come. H&M also announced the news on Twitter creating a global #BALMAINATION frenzy.
While little is known about the upcoming collection, Rousteing assures that all pieces will reflect Balmain’s signature glamour and luxury craftsmanship. “It was a big challenge and a good challenge”, the designer states, “I don’t want to lose the craftsmanship, and I don’t want to lose the richness and the glamour of the house, but I also want to talk to the people in the street, to different ages. And I think that’s going to be the beauty of the collection. H&M really challenged themselves with craftsmanship, with the high couture level of France, and the results are great”.
The H&M x Balmain collection for men and women will be available online and in stores on November 5.
