Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director extraordinaire of Chanel and the Karl Lagerfeld brand, has announced plans to launch a kidswear line for Spring/Summer 2016. Two seasonal collections a year, which will operate under the designer’s eponymous line, will be available for boys and girls from newborns up to 16 years old. No doubt the luxury childrenswear and accessories collection will embrace the brand’s signature rock style leaving many mini-fashionista’s in awe – if not their mothers!
“The Karl Lagerfeld Kidswear collection presents a unique opportunity to share our cool, ironic, iconic DNA with a wider Karl Lagerfeld audience,” said Pier Paolo Righi, CEO and president of the Karl Lagerfeld brand. “Due to our brand’s wide appeal our expansion into the juniors market is a natural fit to further enhance our reach.”
It is not a complete surprise that Kaiser Karl decided to venture into the children’s wardrobe as his adorable 6-year-old godson Hudson Kroenig, son of equally dashing male model and Chanel muse Brad Kroenig, has walked the Chanel runway many times already and even featured in the brand’s cruise advertising campaign. As little Hudson is likely to be one of the key inspirations for Karl’s expansion into boyswear and girlswear, we expect the dapper youngster to become the face of the collection, perhaps with equally stylish toddler North West on his side.
The Karl Lagerfeld kidswear collection will be in collaboration with Groupe CWF (Children’s Worldwide Fashion) who are also responsible for the childrenswear collections of fashion labels Chloé, Burberry, DKNY and Marc Jacobs.
