Trend Tech: The World’s First NFC-Enabled Bag

Trend Tech: The World’s First NFC-Enabled Bag

Finnish-Moroccan footwear and accessory designer Aki Choklat has created an innovative new bag collection, equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology that enables the user to register as the official owner of the product. In a first for the fashion world, each bag comes equipped with a minute hidden tag that communicates wirelessly with NFC-enabled smartphones, creating a digital link between owner and accessory.

Ownership of the bag will be registered at the point of purchase, followed by an email with a free downloadable app to view the registration. Using the app, users can create content around their bags – from travel diaries to bag archives. Ownership of a bag can even be transferred to another person, or reported if stolen.

Trendstop Take-Aways

• Not only does a chip give extra protection to the authenticity of luxury goods, it can also help hold valuable information about products, styles and origins which could be tracked back during the manufacturing and shipping process.
• This technology, developed by Finncode, can add an extra element to desirable luxury goods, integrating them into our digital lives.
