Fashion-turned-interiors designer Pleunie Buynik has created an inspirational new way of looking at materials, reinventing jewels with fluid, flexible forms. For her graduation project at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Pleunie’s Limber Gems explores the idea of elegant jewellery for interiors, formed from an innovative material partly composed of rubber. Four laying gems are all derived from circular shapes, from a golden orange oval and a round dark green stone with a touch of gold to a cupper-stretched shape that demonstrates its elasticity, as well as a silvery black self-supporting gem that gives the owner new possibilities like bending corners. Reflecting both environment and light, each jewel can be customised to fit in every type of interior, and can create novel experience in spaces for those with an interest in architecture or design.
