Benjamin Von Wong’s Ethereal Underwater Shoot

Benjamin Von Wong’s Ethereal Underwater Shoot

Montreal-based photographer Benjamin Von Wong has made a splash with his incredible new underwater shoot. Eschewing the more conventional route of using models in a swimming pool (or even digital manipulation), Benjamin decided to go down the vastly more ambitious route of hiring two trained free-divers to pose in a real-life shipwreck off the coast of Bali. With seven additional support divers at hand, each picture was shot 25 metres below the surface, utilising the natural light to create beautiful otherworldly scenes in spite of the extreme conditions. The images take on a hauntingly ethereal quality, as the long hair and sheer dresses of the free-divers ripple and flow against the eerie backdrop of the 50-year-old wreck.
