High vs. Low in Karen van Bingsbergen’s ‘Dissonance’

High vs. Low in Karen van Bingsbergen’s ‘Dissonance’

In today’s style news, be inspired by the impressive photography skills of 21-year-old Karen van Bingsbergen, who shot her editorial ‘Dissonance’ in between her work as a stylist and Elle Netherlands fashion intern. This surreal yet beautifully shot series depicts female body parts clad in the trappings of wealth, as hands and heel-shod feet drip with expensive gold jewellery – however, a twist emerges, with base elements like fast food and cigarettes creating unexpected contrasts against the luxe setting. As Karen tells Trendstop,

“With this project, I started from the theme of classical music; something that is not close to me. When I think of people listening to classical music, I think of high-class chic people with luxurious clothing and jewellery. I wanted to combine the luxurious elements with raw, dirty elements. It’s important to me to surprise people with my images, and not have it look like something they have seen before.”

Keep an eye out, we predict that Karen is definitely a talent to watch!
