Whilst Alexander Wang’s Spring Summer 2011 collection was, in the main, characterized by a lightness of touch, flashes of metallic added a youthful contemporary flair to garments. Fluid, sportswear inspired shapes and loose layers featured tin-foil accents, panels placed strategically around the torso, over shoulders and inside folded back details, evoking a subtle space-age aesthetic. A lightweight zip-up jacket, with a distinctly minimal silhouette, was rendered in metallic mint green, giving new credence to the so wrong it has to right sensibility. The vibrant pastel colorway tones down the futuristic associations metallics inextricably convey, creating attire suitable for a new urban landscape.
