The North Face unveils its latest SS17 collaboration with Supreme.
The well-loved streetwear brand has just launched its latest venture with weather-proofing legends The North Face, after a long string of successful collaborations. Supreme, the skateboard label established by founder James Jebbia back in 1994 in NYC, has been at the forefront of the fashion scene more recently blurring the boundaries between streetwear and fashion.
The History of Supreme x The North Face Collaboration
Supreme x The North Face have now joined forces nineteen times, the first was launched in December 2007 for Fall/Winter 2007, nearly ten years ago. Since then we have seen a seasonal injection of different uses of blocking, from bold contrasts to more subtle tone-on-tone translations, with panelling anything goes. Prints have varied over the seasons too from photographic city skylines to more graphical map and atlas prints and even bandanna paisley and photographic fur prints have been seen adorning the streetwear staples. For Spring 2017 though they have created a capsule collection of clothing and accessories with functional appeal.
SS17 Collection Highlights
This collection of hardcore ’90s outdoor gear has strong similarities to the Spring/Summer 2014 collaboration with large logos and bold blocking in loud and proud colors.
The range incorporates both form & function in bucket loads, and is the total opposite of the camouflage trend.
The collection consists of a diverse selection of tops, bottoms, and accessories, all embracing functional appeal with Polartec & GORE-TEX supplying advanced technical features that couple style with functionality.
The collection makes use of a primary color palette, with decorative reflective patches featuring the US flag.
It’s definitely a move away from the brand’s mainline collection, featuring plenty of loud, politically-charged motifs in a charismatic Supreme way though still staying in-line with North Face’s heritage as an explorative, outdoor brand.
When will the collaboration be available to buy?
If you want to get your hands on one of these hot products, they are now available on the Supreme website or in all Supreme’s locations in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris and Japan. The most notable being Dover Street Market, New York who are debuting this sought after collaboration. Prices range from between £45-£395 ($54-$488).
