Kidswear Trade Shows: Playtime Paris Fall/Winter 2015-16

Kidswear Trade Shows: Playtime Paris Fall/Winter 2015-16

Trendstop Sneak Peek of the top childrenswear tradeshows

Playtime Paris is one of the most exciting childrenswear trade shows on the calendar for the kidswear trend team here at Trendstop, and the Autumn/Winter 2015 edition of the show didn’t disappoint. Our trend analysts were inspired by some exciting new looks that validate our kidswear trend forecasts for the Fall 2015 season.

A total of 440 international exhibitors at the event, Playtime showcased a mix of mainstream brands as well as newcomers to watch. Throughout all three days the atmosphere was upbeat and bustling with many exciting pop-ups, elaborately designed stands and innovative collaborations, not to mention exciting boys, girls and baby collections. – No doubt the combined total of sugary sweets consumed at the venue also contributed to the energetic vibe!

Visual highlights were the fair’s trend spaces which featured impressive installations by three artists associated with stage design. This year Hélène Barrier, Lucie van der Elst and Sophie Cuvelier each explored how social trends influence the wardrobes of the little ones, resulting in colourful and beautifully crafted creations.

FALL 2015 KIDSWEAR TREND TAKE-AWAYS

Here is a brief round-up of some of the key trend take-aways from the show.

Unisex dressing is key this season with many kids’ brands like Bobo Choses and Papu offering gender-neutral children’s clothing and key items like joggers spanning both genders.

The fun factor is coming through for A/W 15 with playful print stories. Particularly the Nordic kidswear brands such as Mini Rodini and Iglo & Indi delivered on quirky conversationals while Lion of Leisure showcased tees with beautifully hand-printed illustrations.

Being environmentally responsible remains an influential element in kids apparel and particularly the babywear sector. Organic collections by Aarrekid, HBB Industria Argentina and Pünktchen Komma Strich offer pieces that are both exciting and ethical.
