Retail News: Acne Teams Up with Liberty

In today’s Retail News: It’s a match made in fashion heaven! Swedish label Acne Studios has teamed up with luxury London department store Liberty on a must-have new collaboration collection, curated by the Swedish brand’s creative director Jonny Johansson. The range sees iconic Liberty prints applied to trademark Acne pieces like the Marla leather blouse and embellished Mape leather jacket. Key patterns include the Japanese-inspired Eva (originally popular on cotton in the 1880s), Alma’s Bird (conversationals combining Japanese design with early art nouveau) and the paisley-styled block print Jonny. Such classic prints lend an ornate vintage feel to the contemporary shapes, with highlights on show in slippers, acetate sunglasses and silk scarves alongside the apparel designs.

“I have a personal and long history with Liberty prints, having used them as a source of inspiration in my early years as a designer,” says Johansson. “When we started exploring Liberty’s extensive heritage… it almost felt like an overwhelming voyage. We realized we had to come up with a strong contrast in order make sense of it.”

The Acne Studios for Liberty collection is available exclusively in-store and online at Liberty.
