Last night saw students at London’s American InterContinental University host ‘UPCYCLE’, a fashion show dedicated to sustainable style under the ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ ethos. Staged with live music by She & I at a swanky venue at Marylebone Gardens (not to mention a table groaning with champagne), Trendstop just had to make an appearance…
The show was split into themes, including ‘Creative Drape’, ‘3D Form’ and ‘Precollections’, with apparel ranging from reworked pre-owned paisley blouses to dresses crafted from recycled plastic bags. We were particularly impressed by the menswear designs, which encapsulated a range of innovative approaches – including Michelle Kasujja’s contrast pocket zipped jacket (pictured), appearing with a quirky backpack strap feature.
Our Ones to Watch? We expect to see big things from Emma Louise Murray, who also scooped one of the night’s top design prizes, and Zaira Xitlalitc Agular, for his conceptual ensemble created from discarded coffee bags.
