Original Penguin Launches Aberdeen Store

The Penguin has officially entered Aberdeen. This month, Perry Ellis Europe has expanded its retail portfolio in Great Britain with its first Original Penguin store in Scotland. The new store, based in the Union Square Shopping Centre joins the likes of Jack & Jones, Hugo Boss and Superdry.

Aberdeen, however, is just the tip of the iceberg (pun intended) for the US brand, which launched in Minneapolis in 1955, as the Original Penguin – named Pete by Abbot Pederson, a creative salesman at Munsingwear– sets its sights across Europe.

Rumor has it that there was whiskey as well as a taxidermist shop involved in the birth of Pete the Penguin, but the brand prefer to stay schtum.

Original Penguin is sold in flagship stores in the US as well as in selected retailers around the world and online, and includes men’s, women’s, footwear, fragrance and accessory collections.
