Nike has revisited its Liberty of London collab for Summer 2012 to create what will be one of the most sought after womenswear capsules of the year. The line-up of six sneaker styles will be released in two drops with the first being accompanied by a debut range of apparel that includes soft brushed cotton full zip hoodies, shorts and racer back tanks.
This range looks more traditional than last summer’s offering thanks to the choice of Liberty’s Lagos Laurel print which prettifies the look. The Lagos print was designed in the 1940s as a 20th century take on traditional paisleys and for summer 2012 it has been reworked to include a laurel wreath in celebration of the Olympics coming to Liberty’s home town, London. The pattern comes in red, blue, black and yellow versions, all teamed with white.
In drop one comes the Nike Cortez, Air Max 1 and Free 5.0, with Nike purists set to salivate over the Cortez in particular as this year marks the 1972 design’s 40th anniversary.
This first wave launches at 10am on Monday April 2 with the second drop coming on May 1, featuring the Dunk Sky Highs, Blazer Mids and Hyperclaves. The Dunks are Nike’s first wedge heel trainers. The range will launch online and in store where they’ll be showcased in a bespoke Nike pop-up that will interpret running and style through the ages, in line with the decades spanning sportswear theme.
