Discovering and supporting a new label or venture is always a thrill, thus we were more than happy to discover a little more about Madame Boucherie, designed by William Wilde. Residing temporarily at Blow PR, we viewed the collection first hand, intrigued by the precision and attention paid to hand-crafted…latex. Perhaps the last taboo in fashion, the fetish fabric is enjoying something of a mainstream revival, thanks to Gaga, Katy Perry et al. Wilde’s latex is hand cut, the considered finish testament to the designers dedication to his craft. A life-long fascination with costume and clothing informs glamazon and showgirl inspirations, culminating in daring designs that are made to be noticed.
Exploring the perceived boundaries of latex, Wilde’s pastel pink ’Showtime’ ballgown – replete with a jumbo bow detail, a seductive halterneck and a voluminous below-the-knee flare – transcends the fabrication to occasionwear. Elsewhere, fitted jackets come with jaunty peplums; blouses are tied at the neck with gingham bow – subverting the expected convention. Dramatic ruffles are juxtaposed with skin-tight body-con, in a play on the unexpected, and gives a whole new meaning to Sunday Best.
For those still to be convinced about the possibilities of latex, we hear that easy-wear bows and belts are also included in the collection. Available exclusively here.
